I was struck by the expressive character of the paint tubes in my studio of my wife, the painter Tatjana Krizmanic. Some are her's, and some, I later found out, are those of the painter and Tibetan Buddhist master, Kongtrul Jigme Namgyel, my teacher. I love the way the tubes become canvases themselves, a history of choices revealed in flecks of paint of colors other than the tube's, along with fingerprints. Their sculptural shapes give them a noble and weathered air. They've helped and now are in final repose.
